Capri Ristorante & Catering

They say you always return to your roots.  For Capri, the saying holds true.  The restaurant returned to Berwyn to provide authentic Italian cuisine to Berwyn residents and visitors.  The restaurant is part of the continued growth on Roosevelt Road. As a family owned restaurant, Capri is committed to providing their customers, the finest in fresh quality food, personal service and a comfortable dining atmosphere.





Big Guys Sausages
7021 West Roosevelt Road

It doesn’t get more Chicago than this. Big Guys provides a variety of sandwiches such as their chili cheese dog and Italian chicken sage.  A good portion of their sausages are made in-house.  The Food Network took notice of their ambition to open a quality sausage stand and brought Bobby Flay along for the ride.  Big Guys was featured on “3 Days to Open with Bobby Flay” where they had that amount of time to open their business.

Wing Boss
6625 West Roosevelt Road

Wing Boss is a quick casual restaurant that specializes in regular and boneless chicken wings. The restaurant’s mission is “Wings Done Right.”  With nine Wing Boss flavors, how can the wings turn out wrong? Their sauces are homemade and were created specifically for the restaurant.  Through the support of the City of Berwyn and the BDC, Wing Boss received Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for the redevelopment of the vacant space for the new restaurant.


Meijer Marketplace
7111 West Cermak Road

The Berwyn Development Corporation worked vigorously to fill the 90,000 square foot space in Cermak Plaza.  The efforts paid off when Meijer Marketplace opened in late summer as the new anchor tenant.  The store is one of Meijer’s prototypes for decreasing their footprint to fit urban environments.  Meijer Marketplace is half the size of traditional stores and carries more groceries than general merchandise. The store offers over 600 varieties of farm fresh produce, custom cut fresh meats, and a bakery.  Also, the store has a full-service pharmacy. As the city’s largest retailer it has created 180 new jobs for the city.

Berwyn Gateway Plaza: The Vitamin Shoppe, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Verizon, and Play N trade. The Northeast corner of Harlem and Cermak has transformed the gateway into Berwyn.  The middle of 2012 showed the completion of the first block.

The Vitamin Shoppe was the second retailer to come online in the new Berwyn Gateway Plaza. The Vitamin Shoppe is a specialty retailer and direct marketer of nutritional products ranging from vitamins, herbs, sports nutrition and everything in between.  The store is a great choice for anyone seeking health and wellness advice and supplements.  Employees are trained and certified through vigorous classes and are ready to put their knowledge and skills to the test to serve you.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Chipotle Mexican Grill offers food served fast using high-quality ingredients and classic cooking methods in a distinct interior design. As the third business to open in the city-led development, Chipotle offers gourmet burritos and tacos with premium quality ingredients from sustainable sources, like naturally raised meats and local and organic vegetables.

Play N Trade
7170 West Cermak Road

Plan N Trade is the largest video game franchise worldwide in the specialty retail business of video game stores.  Customers can enjoy a great selection of new and used games, consoles, retro titles, trade in of their used game titles, as well as take advantage of a unique “Try-Before-You-Buy” policy which allows any game to be played in-store prior to purchase.  The store provides solutions for all gaming needs, including having consoles and games repaired.  The store hosts events such as in-store tournaments for games.  They pride themselves on building great relationships with everyone who walks in.

Riddles Comedy Club
6910 West Windsor Avenue

For those looking for a night out in the Depot District, Riddles Comedy Club is the new Depot entertainment hot spot.   The owner brings over 15 years of experience in the comedy business to his new comedy club.  Riddles hosts national and local comedians with shows on Friday and Saturday nights and open mic nights throughout the week.  A night of laughs is the perfect escape from hectic schedules. Riddles has created 15 temporary constructions job and 10 full time positions.  Riddles is located conveniently nearby the Metra Berwyn station and there are many parking options in the Depot District.  Enjoy dinner and drinks before catching a show at one of the Depot’s restaurants.  The Depot offers cuisines from fine Italian to American contemporary.

Bounce Sportsplex
3310 South Grove Avenue

One of the most exciting additions to the Depot District has been the highly anticipated opening of Bounce Sports.  The multisport facility occupies the entire 15,000 square feet of the parking garage’s ground level.  The facility has a 130 feet long multi-purpose turf field, batting cages, and half court.  Bounce Sports offers youth and adult leagues and specialized training in soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, and basketball. Bounce Sports brings over 10,000 players from 15 western suburbs and Chicago to the Depot District.  With its commitment to quality service and comfortable environment, Bounce Sports is ready to help you make your health and wellness a priority. The five-level parking garage was completed in December 2009 and has 378 parking spaces for commuters and shopping patrons.

Off the Traxx
3144 South Oak Park Avenue

Off the Traxx is the latest addition to the Depot’s bar scene. Reminiscent of a vintage train stop watering hole, the décor will take you back to days of old. Once inside, you’ll notice the hardwood floors and exposed brick as well as copper tin ceilings accented with exposed duct work and industrial lighting. Train equipment and memorabilia line the walls. A light food menu compliments an extensive drink menu.

Reel Art

Looking for an old movie poster? How about a rare comic book? Stop by Reel Art and find what you are looking for and plenty of other rare and classic movie posters and cinematic collectables.  TIF funding helped renovate the building into a movie memorabilia mecca.  For more than 20 years the owner has traveled across the county searching for artifacts of pop culture and is ready to make those items available at his first storefront.  The store also hosts events such as the recent Pam Grier signing.

Karasek Park
Corner of Kenilworth and Stanley Avenues

The Berwyn Development Corporation, the Berwyn Park District, along with Mayor Lovero dedicated the park to Edward A. Karasek, a commissioner of the Berwyn Park District in the early Fall.  Karasek was elected to the Berwyn Park District board in 1966.  During his years of service he has shown dedication and passion in creating parks and recreation in Berwyn.  It offers tables and benches to enjoy a meal while watching bustling trains pass.  The park, designed by the Lakota Group, features landscaping, seating areas, lighting, and electrical outlets for use during special events.  The City of Berwyn purchased the land in 2011 with the intent of bringing this pocket park online.  It has become a place to gather and enjoy the district.

J.D. Byrider
6539 Ogden Avenue

The Zeigler Automotive Group opened its newest JD Byrider location on Ogden Avenue, historic Route 66. The 12,500 square-foot location offers used car sales, financing, eight service bays and a customer service center to the Berwyn community and surrounding areas.  Zeigler maintains highly skilled, knowledgeable sales and service staffs with many years of experience satisfying their customers’ needs. The BDC assisted the Zeigler Group with negotiating the acquisition of the property and guided their team through various construction processes in order to complete substantial rehabilitation of a former Ford dealership site. The new business has created approximately 30 jobs and is anticipated to be one of Berwyn’s top three tax revenue generators. Founded in 1989, JD Byrider is the nation's leading used car sales and finance enterprise.

Lou's Pizza & Beef
6333 Ogden Avenue

This quick-service restaurant is the place to stop if you are in need for a craving an Italian beef sandwich. In addition, there are also hamburgers, Italian sausage, and thin crust pizza offered.  Many of items are made in-house, like the meat balls, hand-cut fries, and hearty chili.  The friendly staff is ready to offer suggestions of their favorite menu items and ensure you get your meal in a reasonable amount of time.  The restaurant offers dine-in, carry-out, delivery, and catering for their full menu.

They offer full service mechanical auto repair as well.  The City of Berwyn and the BDC worked with CCA to provide TIF funding for façade improvements and signage on the property.
