Annual Meeting

Each January, BDC members and community leaders gather together to attend our annual membership meeting. Attendees enjoy a complimentary breakfast and have an opportunity to meet and greet fellow members and elected officials. The meeting's agenda includes a review of the city's economic development successes over the past year as well as a look ahead into the coming year. Newly elected board members are installed and the organization's Annual Report is distributed. Additionally, the BDC presents the President's Award, the George W. Ashby Award for Businesses Excellence and recognition awards for business owners who improved their businesses or properties through the TIF program.

The President's Award
Each year this award is given to an individual whose hard work and accomplishments exemplify the mission and spirit of the BDC and contribute to the Berwyn community. This year's award was given to Jeff Janda.

George W. Ashby Award for Business Excellence
Big Guys Sausage Stand, 7021 Roosevelt Road, was recognized with the George W. Ashby Award for Business Excellence at the Berwyn Development Corporation’s (BDC) Annual Meeting on January 13, 2016.

The George W. Ashby Award for Business Excellence is a local honor named after one of Berwyn’s distinguished early architects. Mr. Ashby was responsible for the design of every grade school in Berwyn as well as J. Sterling Morton High School. The award is given annually to one Berwyn-based business that presents a professional and favorable image to Berwyn, provides quality goods or services, maintains a visually appealing space, and practices high quality customer service to its patrons. Two other finalists nominated for the award included Berwyn's Violet Flower Shop and Vesecky's Bakery.
