BDC Commissions

The BDC offers several ways that members can use their skills to improve Berwyn. Make a difference-serve on a BDC Commission.

Chamber Services Commission: meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesdays at 8:30 am at the BDC for new and ongoing marketing, brainstorming sessions, discussion on the Buy Berwyn Shop Local Initiative and membership recruitment efforts. Those with a particular interest, creative talent or marketing background are encouraged to participate!

Commercial Loan Commission: meets monthly on the 2nd Thursdays of the month at 4:00 pm at the BDC to manage the City's and the BDC's commercial loan and microloan programs and increase access to capital for Berwyn businesses. The commission is comprised of members of the commercial loan pool and the BDC Board of Directors.  

Depot District Special Events Commission: meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm at the BDC to plan special events in the Depot District, including Depot District Mini-Golf Pub Crawl; Clean Sweep Garage Sale; Cruise Nites; Music, Art & Vintage in the Street; Oktoberfest; JazzFest and "Deck the Depot". These events support corridor businesses, improve the quality of life for Berwyn residents and attract visitors from outside of Berwyn.

Historic Route 66 Car Show Commission meets as needed to plan the Route 66 Car Show. This event supports corridor businesses, improves the quality of life for Berwyn residents and attracts visitors from outside of Berwyn.

Charles E. Piper Award Commission meets as needed to plan the Charles E. Piper Award Dinner. Each year the BDC presents the Charles E. Piper Award to an individual selected for recognition for their business achievements and community involvement.

Uptown Commission: meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 8:30 am at the BDC to engage corridor businesses, facilitate communications and advocate for economic development by providing applicable recommendations to the BDC Board. The uptown area includes: Roosevelt Road, 16th Street, Cermak Road and Harlem Avenue.

Downtown Commission: meets 3rd Thursday of each month at 4:30 pm at the BDC to engage corridor businesses, facilitate communications and advocate for economic development by providing applicable recommendations to the BDC Board. The downtown area includes: 26th Street, the Depot District, Ogden Avenue and Pershing Road.

Roosevelt Road Special Events Commission: meets 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 pm to plan special events on Roosevelt Road, including Green Mile Pub Crawl, Zombie Walk Pub Crawl and Light the Veltway. These events support corridor businesses, improve the quality of life for Berwyn residents and attract visitors from outside of Berwyn.
